Work Schedule: 7:30AM 4PM/Mon-Fri
As part of the Protection and Automation Engineering Department, the co-op will have the opportunity to complete assignments with hands-on and in-depth experiences in the three phase power system engineering aspects of electric utility system protection and automation design, configuration, maintenance, and operation.
The co-op will be exposed to automation and protection system design, configuration, and implementation, and operation including relay coordination, power system modeling, intelligent device integration, power system event analysis, and electric system operation support. Specific activities may include performing in-depth engineering calculations, setting and configuration development, print review, modeling software, and other related duties and activities as assigned by the manager or engineers.
Candidates must display the ability to think logically, communicate a clear understanding of the subject matter and offer informed suggestions to improve processes.
Specific fields of study required: Electrical Engineering
- Sophomore Status or Higher
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- 2.5 GPA or higher is required
- Current full-time student attending an accredited college/university
- Must have the ability to: prioritize and work on multiple assignments at one time; work under stressful situations; operate a computer and other office equipment; sit at a desk for more than one hour at a time; move about the Company and interact with all levels of the Company.
- High Analytical and Problem Solving Skills, Attention to Detail, Good Communication Skills (Written and Oral), Organized
- Team Oriented
Technical Ability (i.e. software):
- Microsoft Office Suite of Products,
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documents desired, not required
