Department: Distribution Planning Engineering
Location: Energy Plaza, Omaha, NE
Duration: May 2020 December 2020
Work Schedule: 8:30am 5:00pm, M-F (40 hours per week)
Assist full-time engineers in performing technical and economic analyses necessary to determine feasible, reliable, and economical expansion plans for the District's distribution system to adequately meet internal and external customers' forecasted requirements. (Distribution System will refer to electrical power delivery facilities operating at voltages between 4,160 volts and 34,000 volts.) Assists in creating and maintaining computer models of the distribution system. Performs switching studies to prepare the distribution system for the summer peak loading season. Performs other operational and customer related studies as assigned under the guidance of full-time engineers.
Specific fields of study required: Electrical Engineering, Power emphasis preferred
2.5 GPA required
Sophomore Status or Higher
Current full-time student attending an accredited college/university
Technical Ability (i.e. software):
Prior Experience with power flow software (preferred but not mandatory), SQL and/or other programming experience (preferred but not mandatory)
Must be able to pass additional background screening to receive NERC Authorization and work at the ECC
