Responsibilities

 

OPPD's Cyber Security Engineer is a highly organized, security minded, problem solver focused on the protection of OPPD's information system assets. Responsible for performing cyber threat intelligence analysis, correlating actionable security events, and collaborating with various internal teams to design, optimize and analyze security postures across OPPD's technology, and enhancing security and operations. They will have knowledge and functional experience with all NIST domains across the organization. This position will collaborate closely within the cybersecurity operations area, Business Technology (BT) teams, and across OPPD to identify and help remediate security risks and vulnerabilities, resolve escalated events and lead incident response activities. This position will partner closely within the cybersecurity operations area, Business Technology engineering & architecture teams and across OPPD employing excellent communication skills to evangelize security throughout the enterprise.

Solutions Design

  • Develop and contribute to the cybersecurity technology roadmap and future capabilities.
  • Apply a collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, validate and verify cyber security solutions, balancing business requirements with information and cyber security requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend cybersecurity solutions to mitigate OPPD future threats.

Technology Lifecycle

  • Continuous monitoring of security technology to verify health and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for on-going support of security technology solutions, including ensuring security technology integration across platforms, adoption of security solutions and continued improvement of those solutions.
  • Collaborate across the organization to implement security best practices, address risks and provide mitigation recommendations.

Project Delivery

  • As part of a project team, execute cybersecurity functions and activities related to new and existing projects with technologies based on the OPPD cybersecurity roadmap.
  • Provide consulting for technology projects to provide guidance on security solutions and security requirements to ensure that project-related risks are addressed.
  • Serve as security adviser for other BTBS and business teams.

Security Operations & Incident Management

  • Provide second/third level support on cybersecurity issues, including troubleshooting and solving a wide variety of security issues when escalated.
  • Execute and enhance policies and procedures for security incident response, incorporating OPPD-wide incident handling procedures and standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across the company to facilitate data sharing and automate data collection for incident response.
  • Run post-mortem meetings to capture improvements and provide guidance for action item ownership and accountability.
  • Conduct cyber risk assessment activities including threat modeling, security analysis and analysis of mitigation solutions.
  • Perform and approve security risk assessment for proposed software and hardware solutions and recommend configuration or other compensating controls to mitigate risks.
  • Perform advanced incident and threat management, including assisting in the identification and active defense of abnormal/malicious behavior, investigate, triage and respond to security incidents
  • Lead forensic investigations relating to security incidents and or breach

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in an equivalent role; OR 7+ years of equivalent experience
  • Technical expertise in multiple information security domains.
  • Comprehensive experience designing, implementing, operating & troubleshooting traditional & cloud-based security services.
  • Designing and implementing security solutions while making improvements to those solutions.
  • Working with teams to accomplish security infrastructure goals.
  • Knowledge of continuous monitoring systems.
  • Consulting and engineering in the development and design of security best practices and implementation of solid security principles across the organization, to meet business goals along with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of latest threat vectors such as data breaches, protocol weaknesses, account compromise techniques, malicious insiders, third parties compromise, APTs, and network attacks.
  • Strong understanding of National/International regulations and standards such as NIST, ISO27001, SOX, GDPR etc.
  • One or more information security certifications (ISC2, ISACA, SANS, AWS, Azure, EC-Council, etc.)

Desired:

  • Experience executing projects in lead capacity.
  • Security Operations Center design and implementation experience.
  • Consulting and engineering in the development and design of security best practices and implementation of solid security principles across the organization, to meet business goals along with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of latest threat vectors such as data breaches, protocol weaknesses, account compromise techniques, malicious insiders, third parties compromise, APTs, and network attacks.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience presenting & communicating to deeply technical teams, and to senior management or executives.

Closing Statement

 

Salary Grade: S4

Minimum: $76,730

Midpoint: $95,913
