Job Description



This position is responsible for providing effective leadership, direction and management of the daily and weekly operations and maintenance of OPPD owned and leased assets required for OPPD's operational needs.  Provides day-to-day direction to assigned personnel and contractor resources and ensures regulatory compliance with all applicable local, state and federal agencies and with OPPD's policies and procedures.  The key functional accountabilities of this position include creating and implementing policies and procedures, work direction, assigning and monitoring work, hiring staff, employee performance, disciplinary actions and other administrative functions related to Building Services.  Also responsible for the safety and functionality of various facilities as well as the personal safety of all direct reports. Accountable for the planning and execution of all necessary preventative maintenance of OPPD's buildings and properties company-wide.

Organizes and directs all activities of the craft personnel performing operations and maintenance.  Supervises department's O&M Technicians, Facility Representatives, and Supplemental Support personnel as assigned.    

  • Responsible for strict adherence to OPPD's safety policies, maintenance and operational procedures, electrical codes, environmental regulations, OSHA regulations, and labor contract provisions.
  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring that maintenance and construction activities are conducted in accordance with applicable station standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide maintenance support on a 24-hour on-demand basis for emergencies involving the generating stations to ensure timely and effective maintenance solutions to equipment issues.
  • Accountable for self-identifying and reporting programmatic or performance weaknesses and seeking additional assistance when appropriate.
  • Conduct regular field safety audits of facility equipment and job activities performed as part of daily work schedule to insure that facility systems and equipment are maintained in accordance with approved safety regulations and that all staff members are in compliance with defined department, station, divisional, and corporate safety policies and procedures.




  • Requires extensive maintenance/construction experience preferably at a multi-building / multi-property campus or heavy industrial facility.
  • Require good interpersonal, management and administrative skills, a positive attitude and the ability to effectively communicate with others.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years building and facilities related experience in Maintenance, Construction, Engineering, or Operations is required.
  • Knowledge in technical fields including trouble shooting and repair of mechanical and electrical systems, refrigeration systems, energy management and control systems, maintenance practices and procedures, cost and scheduling processes, and development and implementation of technical contract documents.
  • A minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and execute assigned projects while working with other professionals in a team based environment.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and establish long lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
  • Shall be required to carry a cell phone.


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of maintenance management, facilities management, property management and contract administration.
  • Professional certification or license with a facilities management, building operations, engineering or related organization.

Time Demands:

  • This position is considered an œessential position meaning when business necessity and continuity needs are emergent, this position will be required to report to work and may be required to work hours beyond an employee's normal shift.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance in alignment with Departmental policy
