This Transportation Fleet Support Specialist provides administrative and technical support in the design, specifications, evaluation and purchase of OPPD's fleet of cars, trucks, and construction equipment. The position coordinates daily activities of assigned projects, project teams, contractors, and consultants on projects managed through the Districts Transportation Office, supports the Transportation team, and meets the fleet vehicle and equipment needs of the District. This position is responsible to apply project controls and implement approved project plans. The Transportation Fleet Support Specialist is also responsible for sourcing rental equipment for the District, remarketing all retiring fleet assets, over dimensional permitting and tracking, fleet data analysis and database management, the department's vehicle equipment sharing/pooling programs, electric vehicle (EV) and other emerging technology programs, and the department's process and standardization documentation around vehicles and equipment.
Facilitate and coordinate accurate and timely communication between vendors, business unit vehicle and equipment assignees, fleet team members, contractors, customers and management.
Develop and maintain computer applications for the analysis of equipment performance, economic considerations and general history for use in purchase and replacement evaluations, and on-going maintenance and repairs of units in the fleet.
Perform special projects and studies related to Transportation department operations.
