Job Objective:

Responsible for the compilation and completion of state filings, regulatory filings, and/or premium taxes for all companies. Reviews assessments for accuracy and gives final approval for payment within authority. Documents job task procedures and trains employees on statistical methods. Develops, modifies, maintains, and documents SRRU and/or Finance Department (FD) personal computer and mainframe systems applications. Analyzes and documents workflow and SRRU products; proposes, designs and implements changes to increase efficiencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews regulatory and industry bulletins to identify changes in state and insurance regulatory regulations which impact statutory statistical data requirements.
  • Calculates quarterly and annual premium taxes, fees and assessments for various states based on state regulations, insurance coverages, and premium volume, allocating such costs to appropriate underwriting segments.
  • Communicates with State Regulatory Reporting Unit & FD management and staff to determine system status and information capture and manipulation needs.
  • Reviews Boards, Bureaus and Guaranty Associations assessments based on insurance statistics for accuracy, allocates cost to NICO companies and gives final approval for payment within authority.
  • Develops and/or operates data collection and reporting mechanisms for reporting detail vehicle and/or policy activity to various state agencies as required.
  • Communicates with Company personnel, state regulatory agencies and reporting bureaus such as NAII and NCCI regarding reported insurance statistics.
  • Performs special projects or related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required Knowledge:

  • College degree with major in math, accounting, statistics or equivalent in experience in insurance accounting, statistics or MIS
  • 1-2 years related work experience
  • Personal computer and database and spreadsheet software

Preferred Knowledge:

  • Insurance operations

  • PC application development and FoxPro programming language
