Required:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field or equivalent
  • 3-5 years related work experience
  • Combination of SQL, .NET, and/or Business Intelligence solutions (ex. Tableau)
  • Previous experience in a Supervisory or Team-lead capacity
  • Mathematical and statistical analysis

Strongly Preferred:

  • Principles of finance, business, statistics, and insurance
  • Insurance coverages and rating schemes and insurance products

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as data administrator for the data warehouse. Analyzes and identifies inefficiencies or problems within the data warehouse, recommends and implements solutions to problems, and determines the need for change to enhance performance or capabilities of the warehouse. Trains others on the data warehouse reporting and integrity activities.
  • Supervises the activities of the Data Warehouse and/or Automated Testing Unit by determining work procedures and schedules, issuing written and oral instructions, training personnel, analyzing and resolving work problems, and assisting workers in solving work problems.
  • Works with database administrators to ensure the data warehouse is operating as expected. Works with programmers, managers, and other individuals to determine the direction in which the Data Warehouse can grow. Recommends proposed changes that may affect the warehouse.
  • Troubleshoots problems related to the Data Warehouse during working hours and after hours as required by urgency or nature of the situation. Regularly deploys updates to the Data Warehouse.
  • Acts as administrator to internal and third party applications. Analyzes and identifies inefficiencies or problems within the software applications, solves problems and determines need for changes to the hardware or software to enhance performance or capabilities of the systems. Works with end-users on the best practices for using applications.
  • Develops, designs, maintains, and documents computer programs for business development, analysis, and other internal operations. Trains others on these processes. Suggests changes to the software as needed as a result of changes in the business, change in law, programming error, etc. Troubleshoots problems related to internal applications during working hours and
    after hours as required by urgency or nature of the situation. Regularly deploys updates to internal applications.
  • Designs and develops methods and procedures to verify the integrity of systems that use the Data Warehouse and data from other mainframe files , monthly/weekly/daily reports, on-line reports, etc. Trains others on the inclusion and integrity of new data from various software sources and for creating a process to validate data where no easy balancing reports or historical data exists to verify integrity. Researches changes needed to underlying queries
    used in these systems.
  • Analyzes and detects inefficiencies or problems within internal and third party software applications. Solves problems and determines the need for changes to enhance performance or the capabilities of the system.
  • Supervises the activities of the Data Warehouse and/or Automated Testing Unit by determining work procedures and schedules, issuing written and oral instructions, training personnel, analyzing and resolving work problems, and assisting workers in solving work problems.
  • Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as developing performance expectations and job descriptions, hiring, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
  • Designs and develops methods and procedures to verify the data in the warehouse and other software applications and then is responsible for monitoring the work. Discusses resolutions to problems with the Manager. This includes:
  • Creating, monitoring and/or directing others on the review of reports for reasonable changes in the daily data.
  • Creating, monitoring, and/or directing others on the comparisons of the data warehouse with mainframe data on a monthly basis.
  • Creating new processes and methods to verify and validate data used from multiple sources where no historical balancing records exist.
  • Creating, monitoring, and/or directing others on regression testing of the data warehouse. Working with end-users to solve problems or answer questions that arise regarding the integrity of the Data Warehouse and other software applications.
  • Writes queries on the data and develops reports, dashboards, and visualizations so that others may use the data for business analysis purposes such as the Agency Scorecard and combining data with the Pricing files. Trains others on the data requests from other departments and determines how to obtain and present the data. Establishes additional ways in which individuals can better utilize the data.
  • Assists in determining the direction in which the data warehouse and software applications can grow by working with managers and other individuals. Designs implementation plans and communicates with the programmers how to bring in additional data, calculation of additional fields, etc.
  • Communicates with programmers and users to understand coding integrity. Identifies potential problems with the data. Tests and documents new designs or changes.
  • Creates and maintains written documentation and procedures for data, reports, and testing.
  • Participates in other data projects such as data upload to the mainframe.
  • Performs related duties as situation dictates such as assisting in on-site training for Excel, SQL, etc., participating in special projects, etc.
