Pharmacy Technician - Transplant Services - Full Time

Position Highlights:

Nebraska Medicine is now taking applications for a talented individual to join us as a Specialty Pharmacy Technician to support our transplant pharmacist team. This position is based out of our Durham Outpatient Center on the Nebraska Medicine campus.

The specialty pharmacy technician will work closely with pharmacists to streamline patient care and medication access for our transplant patient population. The Nebraska Medicine pharmacy program works closely with the pharmacists and providers in the transplant service line. The specialty pharmacy technician will support frequent medication adherence checks, medication refills and delivery, monitoring and follow up. The collaborative effort is designed to eliminate barriers to transplant medication access and provide optimal pharmacy services focused on quality and safety. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills. One must work well on a team and have a passion for healing and serving our patients.

Shift:

  • Full time and Benefit Eligible position -- 1.0 FTE (80 hours in a pay period)

  • First Shift: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

  • No call; No weekends

Details: Pharmacy Technician

Assist the specialty pharmacist with preparation, compounding and dispensing of medications for patients receiving prescriptions services from the Specialty Pharmacy. Assist the specialty pharmacists with claims processing, inventory management, and all necessary reporting requirements to maintain URAC Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation and access to a network of limited distribution drugs.

Minimum Qualifications: Pharmacy Technician

  • Ability to attend and successfully complete 160 hours of on the job training required.

  • High school education or equivalent required.

  • Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand held calculator required.

  • Exceptional communication skills, strong attention to detail and effective problem solving skills required.

  • Licensed Nebraska pharmacy intern or registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy required.

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification within twelve months of licensed date required.

Preferred Qualifications: Pharmacy Technician

  • Pharmacy Technician experience with exposure to Specialty Pharmacy preferred.

  • Work experience which demonstrates analytical ability, judgment, and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare preferred.

  • Proficiency and experience with third party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation preferred.

  • Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile, and hazardous drug compounding preferred.

  • Pharmacy technician experience at Nebraska Medicine preferred.

  • Associates degree in business, healthcare or related field preferred.

  • Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or comparable program preferred.
