Sr Pharmacy Patient Care Assoc - Full Time

Position Highlights:

Nebraska Medicine is now taking applications for a talented individual to join us as a Sr Pharmacy Patient Care Assoc. This role will be great for someone that has a passion for pharmacy, great customer service, and enjoys working in a team environment. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a Pharmacist and provide direct patient care by assisting with medication delivery, preparation, and administration on inpatient units. If you enjoy interacting directly with patients and members of the healthcare team, and being directly involved in administering medications, this may be the position for you. This specific position will work from the main medical campus in Omaha, NE.

Shift:

  • Full Time and Benefits Eligible 1.0 FTE

  • First Shift Position

  • Monday - Friday with weekend rotation

Facilitate and coordinate medication administration in cooperation with and under the supervision of the Pharmacist Generalist-Patient Care Services. Assist as needed, using available electronic resources, patient interview, and phone follow up to ensure an accurate medication history is available for patients at admission. Work in coordination with and under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication administration is performed and documented. Review transfer orders and ensure necessary medications have been transferred with the patient. Collaborate with unit-based pharmacists, inpatient nursing, pharmacy financial counselors, and the meds to beds outpatient pharmacy staff to assist in ensuring patient discharge needs are met in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in an inpatient or outpatient pharmacy or other applicable health care setting required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Effective communication skills, initiative, teamwork and flexibility required.

  • Licensed Nebraska pharmacy intern or registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy required.

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification within twelve months of registration date required (not required for pharmacy interns).

  • 40 Medication Aide Certification within one month of transfer or hire required (not required for pharmacy interns).

  • Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of transfer or hire required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of available electronic resources to obtain medications for administration to patients preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of medical terminology preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of top 100 medications preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office preferred.
