There are several classes needed in order to sit for the certification exam and most internship sites expect those classes to be completed prior to applying for the internship as well. We are looking for a Child Life Specialist who is a driven, empathetic individual with motivation to provide excellent support and care to pediatric patients and families. Our Child Life Specialist will be part of a highly energetic team, working with children 0 to 19 years of age while providing procedural support to facilitate and implement psychosocial, emotional and cultural care with other health care providers. This Child Life Specialist will be working within various departments as a flexible team member and will need to display confidence, kindness, and professionalism to meet the holistic care needs of unique groups of patients.
* Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, human development, child life, therapeutic recreation, or psychology required.
* Eligible for or currently certified as a Certified Child Life Specialist required.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
* Experience with policies, procedure, and protocol manuals preferred.
* Experience with patient care equipment, telecommunication systems, and the different procedure areas within a hospital setting preferred.
