Nebraska Medicine is now taking applications for a talented individual to join us as a Phlebotomist.  The Phlebotomist at Nebraska Medicine plays an integral part of healing and serving our patients.   This specific role will be serving our Outpatient (OP) Draw Site population.

We partner with our physicians, nurses and other hospital staff to provide the best Serious Medicine and Extraordinary Care available in the region.

The ideal candidate will have a current Phlebotomy Certification (PBT) via ASCP and direct patient experience.  However, if one does not have the certification, but has a high desire to be in this medical field, we will train you.  You can research ASCP using this link:

The current position is Full Time (0.5 FTE) working  Monday - Friday from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM plus occasional Saturday mornings.

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collection and transportation of patient specimens for clinical laboratory testing adhering to department identification policies. One will perform, evaluate, and report patient specimens using point-of-care instrumentation. The successful candidate will demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment, represent the lab in a professional manner, and provide excellent customer service.  One may process and distribute patient specimen for clinical laboratory testing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills required.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Attention to detail required.
  • Ability to multitask required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct patient care experience or completion of a phlebotomy course or phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification PBT (ASCP) preferred.
