Job Description

Support the Heart & Vascular ECMO program to become a nationally recognized expert and innovator in adult ECMO and temporary MCS, and become the regional "go-to" facility for patients in cardiogenic shock or end stage lung disease that require advanced cardiac or respiratory support. The primary focus of this position is to be actively engaged in clinical quality and operational improvement efforts. Oversight includes collaboration across departments within Nebraska Medicine to care for ECMO patients, as well as optimize ECMO patient transfers from referring facilities. Additionally, this position would be responsible for Nebraska Medicine's participation in the ELSO (Extracorporeal Life Support Organization) registry  This registry maintains a comprehensive set of data to assist in reducing morbidity and improving survival of patients requiring extracorporeal therapies. Submission allows for national benchmarking within the ELSO network to advance evidence-based cardiovascular care, improve patient outcomes and lower health care costs.

Partner with the clinical program leadership to assist with clinical program operations related to performance improvement, education, outreach, and injury prevention activities. Participates in the overall development, implementation and evaluation of the identified program by organizing the services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to providing care for the injured patient. Work with all departments involved in the care of the identified patient population and their families. Work collaboratively with colleagues to serve as a resource and to support the assessment of care across the regional system.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years recent clinical experience.
  • Bachelors degree in nursing required.
  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks and prioritize activities required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent experience in identified clinical program specialty.
  • Masters degree in nursing preferred.
  • Experience with facilitation of educational events or curriculuum development.
