Inpatient Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

Follow established policies and procedures. Receive, sort, compound, process, and distribute a variety of medication orders under the supervision of a pharmacist. Assist in the maintenance of drug inventory and records of drug distribution. Perform duties relevant to pharmacy operations support following established policies and procedures. Perform accurate and reliable completion of designated responsibilities, which affects the overall accuracy, reliability, and acceptability of the department's services. Provide excellent customer service and patient care in accordance with assigned duties.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Licensed Nebraska pharmacy intern or registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy required. Pharmacy Technician Certification within twelve months of licensed date required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior pharmacy technician or hospital setting experience preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of computers, automated dispensing cabinets, calculators, various computerized and mechanical devices necessary for product preparation and dispensing (e.g., scales, micromix, strip packer, web site resources, general compounding, laminar air flow hoods, biological safety cabinets, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with typical office equipment (e.g., phones, pagers, fax machines, hand held scanners, typewriters) preferred.
