Underwriting Support Assistant - Remote

Supports underwriting, field and internal business partners by gathering, processing, and entering information needed by underwriting staff to determine renewal rates on inforce business. Prepares renewals for all product lines within the WS portfolio including, but not limited to: Life, VTL, STD, LTD, Dental, Vision, Critical Illness, Accident and state specific disability and family leave plans such as PFML. Works case sizes from 10-500+


  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy and completeness of census data; is thorough when performing reviews and conscientious about attention to detail to ensure a high-quality product to customers.

  • Communicates effectively with internal business partners as needed.

  • Uses various databases to enter information, document reporting requirements and develop system generated reports.

  • Accesses various other systems to provide information required by underwriting and maintains all renewal documentation in the case files.

  • Manages overall renewal process to ensure all renewals are completed and provided timely to the customer.

  • Serves as the first line of defense for all renewals to ensure accurate information for risk evaluation.

  • Manages the workflow of multiple tasks and ongoing inter-departmental projects.


  • Must be located in United States or Puerto Rico.

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to assess and understand the needs of the customer
  • Strong knowledge/skill/understanding of computer systems such as email, data entry, and Microsoft products, with proficient keyboarding skills.
  • Strong Attention to Detail with effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates learning agility in key job functions, takes end to end ownership of assigned workload.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; uses sound judgement
  • Ability to multitask effectively, work under pressure, meet deadline requirements and be flexible to meet changing customer needs
  • Actively participates in the identification, and supports implementation, of process improvements. Provides insights and recommendations of enhancements to processes, training and quality-of-service delivery.
