Mutual of Omaha is on a multi-year journey to modernize our actuarial function. This journey includes modernizing our actuarial systems, models, data, reporting, and processes. A large team of business and technology professionals are engaged in this highly visible enterprise wide initiative, which is being executed within the SAFe methodology. . We are seeking an energized and fast-paced individual to join in on these efforts as an additional scrum master to support the project. This scrum master role is centered around managing the planning and execution of the Life and Annuity Actuarial component of the project, with focus on holding the team accountable to delivering timely, cost effective, and quality results.

Managing the overall planning, execution and delivery of medium to large projects of the coordinated management of multiple related projects with timely, cost effective, and quality results.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for managing the overall planning, execution, and delivery of projects to include the definition of project charters, budgets, and measures as well as developing project structures and ensuring proper operations turnover.
  • Facilitate the day-to-day coordination of projects while adhering to standards and sponsor expectations while ensuring client requirements are met.
  • Responsible for tracking project status and managing project issues and risks to include financial analysis, evaluation of progress/quality/costs, developing action plans to address gaps throughout project life cycle, adherence to compliance processes, and problem resolution.
  • Responsible for building and leading effective project teams, including building strong sponsor, stakeholder, vendor, customer, and team relationships while prioritizing projects and managing resources.
  • Responsible for managing projects to implement or enhance a wide range of business system and/or technology solutions, which span a number of disciplines, including development, programming, implementation, compliance, and information management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years project management experience.

  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to define issues, business/technology needs, and implement solutions.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new business and technology.

  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology experience.

  • Knowledge of project management and change management methodologies.
  • 4-6 years of information technology experience and/or business experience.

  • Ability to manage projects across technologies, domains, and business functions (SBU's).

  • Ability to apply the following skills:

    • Interpersonal - effective verbal and written communication skills, resolves conflicts and effectively negotiates issue resolution, establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships, and displays strong facilitation skills.

    • Leadership - advocates and leads change, supports team building, recognizes contributions and celebrates accomplishments.

    • Professional - understands and executes corporate project management processes and industry best practices which include, but are not limited to, building and executing a project plan, monitoring and controlling project work, managing scope, managing resources, ensuring quality control, maintaining effective communication with team and all stakeholders, managing risk, and monitoring and controlling project costs.

    • Partnership - demonstrates customer focus and knowledge of product, functional and operational processes, business and technology systems and utilizes innovation and adaptability in solution definition with a results orientation.

    • Communication - able to use various tools to address local and remote project team members needs to drive clear expectations, results, and accountability via teleconference, video and remote meeting tools.

The Senior Project Manager level has variable essential functions, qualifications and physical requirements. Competency and skill set will determine level of placement within the posted job family.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in related field of study (Business Administration/Management Information Systems)

  • C.A.P.M (Certified Associate in Project Management).

  • P.M.P.
  • C.S.P (Certified Scrum Practitioner)
  • Continuing professional education related to position (20 hours per year).
  • Experience within insurance industry, specifically within Finance, Accounting, or Actuarial business process

  • Strong track record as a project manager or scrum master on large projects and initiatives
