      • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
      • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
      • Successful completion of annual mandatory education requirements

      • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license to work, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
      • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
      • Preferred: core certification related to area of specialty from National Certification Corporation (NCC) within 1 year of eligibility.
      • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification preferred.

      • Provides appropriate care specific to the age and population of the customer/patient, to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Population Specific Criteria.
        • Demonstrates ability to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs and culture.

      • Performs an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the assigned patient's ongoing nursing care needs.
        • Includes data from the patient/significant other(s) in the assessment as appropriate.

        • Recognizes and addresses patient and family capabilities and limitations (physical and mental).

      • Performs technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety (autonomy).
        • Able to competently perform technical skills independently.
        • Is accountable to learn new skills and equipment within areas' specifications and time frame.

        • Charges accurately for use of supplies and equipment according to policy.

      • Initiates action to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risk(s) to the patient, family or hospital employees (e.g., falls, needle sticks, patient concerns).
        • Completes appropriate report form for any risk (e.g., incident report, patient concern report, maintenance request).
        • Works within the scope of practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.
        • Observe appropriate precautions when administering hazardous medications or handling excreta from patients who have received hazardous medications.
        • Follows infection control guidelines and practices.

      • Reviews, delegates and evaluates plans for appropriate utilization of staff at all levels of practice in accordance with the provision of the state's Nurse Practice Act and the Professional Standards of Practice.
        • Right task (within the scope of practice, according to the job description, based on the desired outcome, task routine, non-complex, low risk and predictable outcome).
        • Right person (assess competency by: certification/licensure, job description, skills checklist, demonstrated skill).

      • 4H Unit Expectations:
        • Daily Huddle at Nurses station.
        • Rounding hourly on the odd hours on all patients on your team.
        • Daily shift change rounding--- in the patients rooms (in front of the patient).
        • Rounding with the inter-disciplinary team at 1:00pm on the unit.
        • Daily nurses notes on all patients.
        • Maintain Standards of Compassionate Service to all of our patients and coworkers.
        • All patients to have an updated care plan and revised every 12 hours.
        • Making sure all patients Quality Measures are completed before leaving for the day.
        • Current dates on all IV sites and tubing.
        • Responsible to know what to do in the event of a Code Adam, Code blue, External/Internal disaster etc., Aware of emergency policies and your role (Plain language) for these emergency's (attached).
        • Responsive immediately to all call lights and alarms on the unit.
        • Keeping our patients safe at all times, bed checks/bed alarms etc..
        • To be fully engaged and desire to deliver exceptional care at all times and consistently.
        • Follow minimum charting standards expected of all RN's on the unit (attached).
        • Anticipate care needs and deliver promptly.
        • Aware of Joint Commissions National Patient Safety Goals (attached).
        • Chemotherapy and Biotherapy/BLS course every two years.
        • Aware of PRC data (HCAHPS). These are standards by which many hospitals are evaluated and compared against each other regarding patient experience.
        • Chemotherapy competency Heartland Oncology.
        • Charge RN classes as offered, if applicable.
        • No cell phone/internet usage on the unit.
        • Monitor and supervise daily that all patient cares have been performed by CNA.
        • Keeping the unit clean, quiet and safe at all times.
        • Attend floor meetings.
        • Know floors Performance Improvement projects /Education.
        • Know Prepared for Joint commission readiness guide.

    • Essential Functions II

      • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.

      • Follows and understands the mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Compassionate Care/AIDET and company policies/procedures.

      • Other duties as assigned.
