Description

  • Purpose of Job
    • To provide yoga instruction for cancer patients and survivors and encourage physical activity in their daily lives.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required.

    • Experience
      • Previous Yoga and/or Mediation instruction preferred.

    • License/Certifications
      • Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) by the Yoga Alliance or equivalent sanctioning body with 200 hours of teacher training required at the time of hire or within six months of start date.
      • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

    • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
      • Knowledge of Yoga practices.
      • Skill working with people at all skill levels.
      • Ability to adapt to those with physical limitations.
      • Ability to work with people from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds

      • Instructor provides an environment consistent with accepted standards of sanitation, hygiene, safety and universal precautions.
        • Utilizes universal precautions 100%.
        • Ensures appropriate disinfecting and cleaning of equipment and surfaces.

      • Instructor is knowledgeable of Yoga postures, breathing and relaxation techniques appropriate for the Oncology patient population.
        • Discusses physical limitations with individual participants and modifies movements accordingly.
        • Completes continuing education.

      • Elicits and monitors feedback from the client throughout the session.
        • Clients report interactive session.

      • Maintains a professional relationship with clients.
        • Relates to the client in a manner consistent with accepted standards and ethics.
        • Maintains professional confidentiality, and relates to the client in a manner which respects the integrity of the client and instructor.

      • Maintains professional relationships with other health care professionals.
        • Interacts professionally with all Cancer Center staff.
        • Participates in Harper's Hope meetings and activities.

      • Participates in Harper's Hope meetings and activities. Maintains appropriate records and payment to ensure operational efficiency.
        • Assists in obtaining required documentation and payment.

      • Demonstrates the ability to provide individualized customer service according to the needs of the oncology patient.

    • Essential Functions II
       

      • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.

      • Follows and understands the mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Behavior and company policies/procedures.

      • Other duties as assigned.
