  • Purpose of Job
    • Plans, implements, and evaluates clinical educational programs within the Division of Professional Development.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required.
      • Master's of Science Degree in healthcare profession and/or Master's of Science in adult education field preferred.

    • Experience
      • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience required.
      • Prior experience in project management and data analysis preferred.

    • License/Certifications
      • Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.

    • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
      • Possess understanding of (or ability to master) the regulatory guidelines of Nebraska and Iowa State Boards of Nursing and Health Professional Standards and the American Association of Credentialing of Nurses and State of Nebraska Health and Human Services and other regulatory/accreditation standards.
      • Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices related to recordkeeping; proper English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; proofreading; customer service skills; accounting and budget principles; research methods; and effective telephone techniques.
        • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
      • Advanced skills in standard software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access); internet research skills; ability to master fluency in web-based software technologies, database software, and registration systems.
        • Relevant experience in online course delivery and content managements systems preferred.
      • Excellent communication, writing skills, and attention to detail.
        • Prepare clear and concise written communications, and make oral presentations; communicate effectively with diverse groups; being able to speak in front of, and manage large groups is mandatory.
      • Skill and ability to adapt to changing technology; work independently; utilize critical thinking skills; organize and prioritize work; coordinate a variety of projects simultaneously; read, interpret, research, explain, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to department business; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
      • Exceptional customer service and supportive relationship skills essential.

  • Essential Job Functions

    • Program Planning
      • Identifies and plans educational needs based on annual clinical needs assessment results.
      • Oversees project timelines.
      • Collaborates with and provides oversight of project members on educational offerings.
      • Identifies planning committee members and sets initial planning meeting(s).
      • Assumes accountability for program purpose and objectives.
      • Adheres to applicable regulatory and accreditation guidelines for educational activities.
      • Sources authors/presenters for online or live educational offerings; ensures authors/presenters meet qualifications.
      • Ensures content, presentations, and other educational materials adhere to appropriate (NNA and other) guidelines for professional development workshops, trainings, or other program needs.
      • Researches and compiles statistics and data for projects.
      • Ensures compliance with program file requirements.
      • Assists project members, as needed, to resolve concerns and issues.
      • Prepares reports including statistical summaries and comparisons.
      • Assists Program Manager monitoring revenue and expenditures for projects.
      • Creates and implements marketing plan for completed programs.
      • Oversees event coordination work of project members.
      • Reviews and follow up on program evaluation data with planning committee after event.
      • Ensures appropriate management of sponsorships and commercial support.

    • Data Management and Analysis
      • Enters and retrieves data from databases as needed.
      • Analyzes data, creates queries, and produces custom reports from databases.
      • Oversees the development and administering of survey instruments, forms, and questionnaires.
      • Monitors recordkeeping procedures for accuracy.
      • Reviews and prepares program reports and data as requested by director.

    • Budget/Financial Management
      • Assists in the development and maintenance of department budgets.
      • Monitors expenditures and income to assure availability of funds.
      • Makes projections regarding expenditure patterns.
      • Prepares educational grant applications if needed.
      • Assists in resolving financial discrepancies between funding agencies and the department.
      • Accountable for management of individual program budgets.

    • Customer Service/Communication
      • Provides exceptional customer service.
      • Works with project analyst to ensure clear timeline communication with customers/stakeholders.
      • Acts as liaison for department.
      • Interprets and applies department office policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
      • Communicates information in a clear and timely manner to leadership, peers, and stakeholders.
      • Proactively identifies and addresses conflict.
      • Negotiates fair solutions to conflict and makes difficult decisions when necessary.

    • Service to College and Community
      • Serves effectively on assigned committees.
      • Supports college strategic initiatives.
      • Participates in required meetings and events as appropriate to the position.
      • Fulfills mandatory compliance requirements.
      • Acts in accordance with ANA standards of practice and professional performance for nursing professional development.
      • Clearly articulates and supports college and departmental policies.
