Job Description

  • Purpose of Job
    • Assists the pharmacist in performing functions which do not require professional judgment in connection with the compounding, dispensing and distributing of drugs and intravenous solutions.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required. At least 18 years of age.
      • Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory education requirements.

    • Experience
      • Previous hospital or home infusion pharmacy experience preferred.
      • No current drug addiction. Has not been convicted of any drug related misdemeanor or felony.

    • License/Certifications
      • Registration with the State of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services as a Pharmacy Technician (RPHT) required.
      • Certified by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPHT) within one year of registration with the State of Nebraska.
      • Valid driver's license required. Will require travel in the metropolitan and surrounding areas.

    • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
      • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical computations.
      • Basic computer and typing skills required.
      • Analytical skills necessary to assist in evaluating operational processes.
      • Must possess good interpersonal skills.

      • Assists the pharmacist in performing functions which do not require professional judgment in connection with the compounding, dispensing and distributing of drugs and intravenous solutions to provide quality patient care and pharmacy operations by working under the direction and review of the pharmacist.
        • Feedback from pharmacists, process validation, aseptic audits, gloved fingertip testing, and periodic review by the service leader.

      • Assists the pharmacist in maintaining appropriate records according to policy and procedure.
        • Periodic observation and review by the pharmacist and if appropriate the service leader.

      • Maintains appropriate inventory in gowning and clean rooms by stocking admixture supplies, diluents, empty bags, nutritional solutions, minibags, etc., to ensure adequate stock levels to perform compounding processes.
        • Periodic observation and review by the pharmacist and if appropriate, the service leader.

      • Participates in performance improvement activities as requested.
        • Completion of assignments within established time frames.
        • Feedback from agency staff.
        • Review and/or observation by the service leader.

    • Essential Functions II


      • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.

      • Follows and understands the mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Behavior and company policies/procedures.

      • Other duties as assigned.
        • Feedback from agency staff.
        • Review and/or observation by service leader.
