  • Purpose of Job
    • This position is responsible for the daily operations, staffing, performance improvement, compliance with accreditation standards, budgeting and quality outcomes for the Surgery Operating Room.

  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
      • Master Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

    • Experience
      • Minimum three years of progressively more responsible experience in area(s) of expertise. Health care experience preferred.

    • License/Certifications
      • Current RN license.
      • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) is required.
      • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred for those who manage high acuity units.
      • Preferred core certification related to area of specialty from National Certification Corporation (NCC) within one year of eligibility.

    • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
      • Knowledge of specific clinical/technical area(s), health care delivery and management principles normally acquired through post-secondary education in a related field.
      • Interpersonal relationship skills to interact in a sensitive way in delicate and/or complex situations, to lead teams and to make effective presentations to colleagues and other constituencies.

  • Essential Job Functions

    • Ensures the implementation of departmental policies and procedures that address how nursing care needs of the patient population are assessed, met and evaluated.
      • Creates an environment to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs.

    • Utilizes human, material, fiscal resources of assigned unit(s) within budgetary guidelines or within acceptable budget variances.
      • Assists in preparing a realistic budget within established guidelines.

      • Assists in the development and implementation of cost saving process changes or alternative products or procedures.
      • Implements a budget based master scheduling and staffing plan for assigned care unit(s).
