  • Purpose of Job
    • The Marketing Communications Strategist participates in developing, collaborating, and implementing strategic plans for content development, execution, and measurement of marketing-related communication programs, initiatives, promotions, and projects. Areas of attention will include: projects using a variety of media including print, broadcast, Internet/social/digital media that effectively promote and describe the Nebraska Methodist College brand, reputation, services, programs and people. Strategic planning and execution regarding communications may include developing creative and/or marketing briefs, estimating project budgets, organizing digital campaigns and communications, monitoring and updating public-facing website, content development and editing, writing, testing landing pages, and working closely with key departments in developing and implementing marketing approaches that advance the college's mission. Plans, develops, and manages marketing projects of moderate complexity. Provides recommendations relative to marketing communications strategies and execution for internal clients.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, advertising or related field from an accredited institution required.
      • Master's degree in a related field preferred.

    • Experience
      • Minimum 3 years progressively responsible work experience in marketing communications, advertising, internet marketing, direct marketing or other marketing environment.
      • Experience in multiple aspects of the marketing function that demonstrates creative thinking as well as critical thinking and problem solving skills.
      • Higher education experience a plus.
      • Experience with desktop publishing programs preferred.

    • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
      • Strategic planning skills in marketing and communications.
      • Advanced writing communication skills in a variety of media (sample portfolio required if interviewed).
      • Highly organized and able to prioritize and work on multiple projects.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel applications, with some experience with desktop publishing programs.
      • Able to adapt tone and voice in writing to different audience and medium.
      • Strong relationship management skills; ability to foster collaboration, value other perspective and gain support/buy-in.
      • Solid understanding of traditional and internet/social/digital marketing fundamentals.
      • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
      • Ability to adapt behavior and work methods in response to new information, changing conditions or unexpected obstacles.

    • Essential Functions I

      • Works with other departments within the college to collaborate, plan, and develop marketing strategies to advance the college mission ensuring timely communications and timely deliverables.

      • Authors marketing action plans and creative briefs which may include secondary research, budget estimates, and project management matrix to ensure the timely and effective execution of marketing plan tactics, activities and projects as developed, assigned, and approved as part of the overall marketing/communications team timelines and deliverables.

      • Initiates and executes marketing strategies and projects that support the college mission and overall marketing strategic plan. Provides marketing communications planning support, coordination and recommendations within the college to departments as assigned.

      • Demonstrates exceptional promotional copywriting and proofing/editing skills for print, email, and web. Communicates creative concepts and strategies to a diverse range of managers. Develops content for brochures and other collateral, website, social media, and internet SEM using desktop publishing and other computer tools, or vendor assistance.

      • Collaborates and assists in the management and implementation of communication tools for external audiences which may include presentations, news and events updates/flashes, newsletters, blogs, and other forms of communication. Utilizes expertise in planning and implementing digital and social media strategies.

      • Serves as liaison and contact person to work with outside media. Works with vendors including copy-writers, graphic artists and other creatives, printers, SEM vendors, and other vendors as needed for customized support as determined for marketing strategy and approved.

      • Performs other marketing and marketing/communications-related activities as assigned by supervisor including trade show attendance, presentations, and other marketing-related activities.

    • Essential Functions II

      • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.

      • Follows and understands the mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Behavior and company policies/procedures.
