Purpose of Job
Prepares the medical record for completion and maintains the integrity of the medical records by collecting, preparing, scanning, processing, copying and auditing of the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely and accurate manner. Provides excellence in customer service when responding to medical record inquiries in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Supports the integrity of the electronic medical records.
Uses critical thinking to maintain/audit the integrity of the electronic medical record.
Audits the scanned documents in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to ensure integrity of the EMR is maintained.
Organizes and prepares paper documents for scanning into the EMRScans documents into the EMR, as appropriate.
Paper documents / patient care records from clinical areas are scanned into the EMR a timely manner and in accordance to department guidelines.
Serves as the expert for scanning during regular and downtime events.
Performs legal medical record scanning of documents for the patient care units during scheduled and unscheduled downtime events.
Assist patient care units with point of service scanning of legal medical documents, as appropriate, including appropriate assignment of document types in the EMR.
Serves as resource person for department to assist with physician, patients, outside agencies on record retrieval.
Medical records are faxed/transmitted to requesting facilities in a timely manner, according to department guidelines, for all requests during regular hours and downtime events.
Promotes office efficiency and maintains teamwork spirit.
Actively assists with the implementation of new procedures, schedules and training/cross training of coworkers.
Actively works using Microsoft systems with minimal support.
Supports assignment changes/requests to achieve department goals and coworker time off requests.
Maintains departmental goals for performance and productivity.
Shares critical information pertaining to newly discovered information or system updates.
Routinely reviews/updates/maintains department training resources for updates or changes in regulatory procedures or payer update information.
Monitors emails and notification and responds to all requests in a timely manner.

Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.
