Job Description

  • Purpose of Job
    • Provide professional counseling services that may include individual, marital/couple, family group, crisis intervention, consultations, and educational presentations.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy or a related human services field required.

    • Experience
      • Requires 3-4 years work experience in School-based or community-based mental or behavioral health services.

    • License/Certifications
      • Mental health practice licensure in the State of Nebraska required. Practitioner may not function outside the scope of his/her licensure.
      • Valid driver's license required and submission to a Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) screen
      • Participates in mandatory in-services and continuing education programs as mandated by the Health System and State of Nebraska licensure requirements.

    • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
      • Ability to travel in all weather conditions between various locations to perform work-related duties required.
      • Ability to work in professional mental health practice conditions working in a multi-disciplinary setting with the usual demands of middle school/high school and community/church-based practice environments.

  • Essential Job Functions
    • Essential Functions I

      • Provide professional mental health counseling services to school students and community/church-based, individual, couple and family clients.

      • Refer clients to mental health or specialized treatment when appropriate and communicate with treatment provider to ensure coordinated care.

      • Maintain timely, well-documented and confidential records of all counseling transactions according to Program's policies and procedures.

      • Provide education programs to school and community/church groups as requested by the groups or assigned by the Program supervisor or manager.

      • Provide timely and accurate program and services information according to Program's policies and procedures.

      • Maintain satisfactory professional working relationships with Omaha Public Schools (OPS) and community/church-based Program representatives and colleagues.

      • Support and assist Program management with developing and maintaining the OPS and community/church-based counseling offices.

      • Participate in school, community/church, Program, Best Care Employee Assistance Program, and Health System meetings as required.

      • Comply with all applicable Program and Health System policies, including mission, vision, core values, and Employee Standards of Behaviors.

      • Obtain and maintain State of Nebraska mental health practitioner license. This includes completing the necessary continuing education hours required for licensure.

    • Essential Functions II

      • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.

      • Follows and understands the mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Behavior and company policies/procedures.

      • Other duties as assigned.
