Financial Aid Specialist

Job Description

The Specialist is responsible for the complete and accurate financial aid counseling of students interested in applying for federal, state, and institutional financial aid assistance. Explains financial aid application process and assists with electronic FAFSA completion. Explains student loan request process and assists student with completion of loan request requirements.  Answers phone calls and returns voicemails as needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree plus three years of full time experience with post-secondary financial aid programs and/or customer service including handling difficult interpersonal situations required.  Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience including part time considered. Experience with Microsoft Office software required. Experience with Ellucian Colleague software preferred. Scheduled hours are Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.  Some evening hours possible.  Must have the ability to travel/float to different campuses.Hiring process includes a background check. NOTE: College degrees obtained outside the U.S. accepted only when interpreted by transcript service members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
