POSITION SUMMARY

An Engineering intern/coop is a problem-solver, facilitator, change agent, innovator, and technical resource. Responsible for performing these functions on issues as they are assigned (or arise) in the designated area.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the successful completion of projects with clearly defined goals and scope and concise project progress reports.
  • Evaluates need, analyzes options, develops plan, develops Appropriation Request (AR) and manages implementation of project until completed within the allotted time frame.
  • Assists support personnel (Technicians, Maintenance, Tool and Die, etc.) in less complex technical matters as needed.
  • Develops, installs and maintains optimum processes for the safe manufacture of quality product in a productive manner.

  • Develops procedures and provides training on new processes, tools and equipment, including but not limited to developing and designing workplace layout and methods through the optimal use of motion economy principles, handling devices, etc.

  • Develops, implements and maintains equitable labor standards. Adheres to Lozier procedures for delay studies and labor standards.

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate maintenance of Routing and Bills of Material files on corporate manufacturing data management system. Implements existing measurement tools to assist improvements in productivity.

  • Alternate solutions are evaluated using sound engineering economy techniques.

  • Demonstrates reasonable and regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments.

  • Ability to work and interact well with others.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • General manufacturing engineering functions as necessary.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS


Education: Completion of industrial engineering coursework through a minimum of 2 years (or appropriate substitute at manager's discretion).

Experience: None.

Required Skills: Average to above average PC Skills.

Preferred Skills: Knowledge of the Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST) or similar work measurement system.

Some travel may be required.
