Position Overview

We are an innovative team of engineers and designers that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff leads and collaborates with Kiewit's module fabrication and construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.  This position focuses on the process design for the production of diesel fuel from renewable feedstocks such as animal fats and vegetable oils. The candidate must be experienced with process units for the pretreatment of feedstocks and the associated wastewater processes as well as diesel hydrotreating.

Location

This position is based out of our Energy Corridor Office in Houston, TX 

Responsibilities

  •     Prepare process engineering deliverables including heat and material balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment sizing, and other deliverables necessary to define the process requirements.
  •     Specify scope and technical requirements for technology providers.
  •     Perform technical evaluations for selection of technology providers.
  •     Review suppliers' data and documents for compliance with project specifications.
  •     Develop criteria, guidelines, and best practices for the unit processes to provide for a safe, efficient, cost-effective, and reliable end product.
  •     Support construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • ¯ ¯ Proactively identifies gaps in design and provides solutions.
  • ¯ ¯ Develops mid to major-sized project or proposals with no supervision.
  • ¯ ¯ Reviews and corrects the work of engineers and designers to develop documents as needed.
  • ¯ ¯ Resolves conflicting requirements and approaches across disciple lines as needed.
  • ¯ ¯ Assists others to structure and solve technical issues.
  • ¯ ¯ Leads others in project objectives consistent with that of the organization.
  • ¯ ¯ Improves existing processes by using different approaches/methods.
  • ¯ ¯ Generates multiple alternatives before settling on a solution.

  • Qualifications

  •     Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  •     At least 10 years of experience in process technologies for pretreatment and hydrotreating processes for the production of renewable diesel fuel.
  •     Advanced knowledge of work processes for producing process engineering deliverables.
  •     Strong understanding of underlying engineering principles and best practices.
  •     Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  •     Strong critical thinking skills.
  •     Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills.
  •     Commitment to safety, ethics, and integrity.
