Position Overview

Are you strategic, competitive, and innovative?  Have you planned and directed the overall design, implementation, funding and administration of benefits programs for an organization of at least 5,000-10,000 employees?  Do you have experience in the construction industry?  We are looking to hire a Benefits Director to help take our benefits programs to the next level!  This could be your opportunity to help us change the landscape of our benefits programs and impact tens of thousands of lives!   As our Benefits Director, you will evaluate our current programs to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and competitiveness with other organizations, and ensure that our benefits programs support our organizations strategic objectives.

This position will be based out of Kiewit Plaza at 3555 Farnam Street, Omaha, NE.  Our metropolitan area is home to over 900,000 people.  Our cost of living is low, our food is delicious, and we are consistently ranked as one of the top cities for families in the US because of our great schools, affordable housing, ease of commuting, friendly people, and low crime rate.   • Develop a strong understanding and appreciation of the organization's business strategy, structure, culture, and objectives in order to develop and implement benefits programs and processes that are aligned with and sensitive to the organizations mission, values, and objectives.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; performance evaluations; determining compensation plans; managing schedules and time away; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing concerns and resolving problems.
  • Work with management to develop, implement and maintain market competitive benefit and retirement programs to enhance the employee value proposition through recruitment and retention as well as meeting company business objectives and philosophy on a global basis.
  • Leverage employee and benchmarking data to inform the design and delivery of global benefits programs and to stay ahead of future workforce needs.
  • Keep internal stakeholders informed on industry trends and provide recommendations on how the benefits strategy can evolve to respond to a changing landscape while optimizing cost constraints.
  • Ensure all Kiewit employees understand and value their entire total rewards package.


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
    required. Masters degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of increasing responsibility in Benefits, Payroll, Human Resources or
    related field strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of management experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with global benefits and craft populations in the construction
    industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience planning and directing benefits programs for an organization of at least 5,000-10,000 employees.
  • CPP, CBP, CEBS, GRP, GPHR certifications preferred.

Strong analytical skills to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness and cost of multiple compensation and benefits programs
