We currently have work all across the country in large cities and small towns, so our people must be willing to go where the work is. Job assignment location will be determined closer to your start date. Must be able to travel and relocate as business requires. Some of our current projects locations include, Florida, Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Iowa, and Alaska.
Responsibilities Implementing and overseeing the Project Safety Program including the development of site safety policies and procedures.
Effectively monitoring the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work and compliance with pertinent government regulations, company policies and procedures.
Routinely monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coaching employees on the correct behaviors when observed; developing and monitoring safety recognition programs.
Continually inspecting the facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety policy/regulation compliance.
Assisting supervision with root cause investigations, lessons learned and the development of solutions and training material to resolve safety issues and ensure timeliness of corrective actions.
Recommending process and product safety features that will reduce employee exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
Assisting in testing of air quality, noise, etc. levels to verify compliance with environmental health and safety regulations.
Serving as the head of the safety committee and direct weekly and monthly meetings in the absence of Project EHS Manager.
Proposing, organizing and facilitating relevant safety trainings for all employees including task planning and events.
Reviewing Job Hazard Analysis, S.L.A.M, and / or Personal Health Records (PHR's); conducting and/or coordinating training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment.
Accompanying employees to any work-related medical visits in the absence of Project EHS Manager.
Assisting with conducting and coordinating mass, foremen and staff schedules and daily safety meetings.
Other duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study
1 3 years of experience on construction projects in an environmental health and safety related area
Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and hazard recognition, record keeping and injury management skills
Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively
CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are preferred
Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
Regularly sit, stand, walk and talk and listen; occasionally lift and move up objects up to 30 pounds.
Must be willing to relocate and go where the work is.
