Kiewit Industrial Engineering (K-IND) is seeking a Mid-Level Process Engineer in the Lenexa, Kansas office. Looking for ideal candidates to grow the Kiewit team by helping establish, maintain, and improve standards and tools while also utilizing these standards and tools to contribute to project success. Candidates shall have a minimum of 3 years of experience in process engineering, including specific experience with food and beverage, bulk material handling, or other industrial facility systems and equipment, be proficient with current drawing and technical tools/programs/software with an understanding of design documentation creation/layout, and be comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a growth mindset continuing to develop in their technical and professional career.
Primary Responsibilities Design various mechanical systems typical for food and beverage, material handling, and other industrial facilities including, but not limited to, bulk solids material handling, dust collection, process piping, conveying systems, sampling systems, pumps, heat transfer systems, and general plant/facility water, air, and gas systems.
Prepare design calculations and equipment specifications typical for food and beverage, material handling, and other industrial facilities including, but not limited to, bulk material handling conveyors, dust collection equipment, bins/tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, and other process equipment.
Perform detailed technical bid analyses for equipment typical for food and beverage, material handling, and other industrial facilities.
Generate and check design deliverables and vendor shop drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
Support the construction team including representing the design team on-site, answering RFI's, providing creative design solutions, etc.
Coordinate with other design partners (both internal and external) including other drafters, designers, and engineers assigned to the project or a task and review work progress and results.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year university
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred
Three to ten years of experience performing engineering related duties
Proficient in basic computer programs including MS Word and Excel, web browsing and e-mail programs.
Preferred: Bilingual in Japanese or Spanish
Working Conditions Fast-paced office environment; must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively; regularly sit, stand, walk and talk and listen; occasionally lift and move up objects up to 30 pounds.
Travel in the U.S. and internationally (5-15%).
