    Office Responsibilities

  •  Assist in establishing the initial startup schedule and system turnover dates as well as any other assignment required to plan the specific project startup process.
  •  Develop scoping drawings into appropriate turnover systems and understand system boundaries.
  •  Review startup schedule for both manpower and task durations.
  •  Input data into the project startup database including scoping design lists from engineering and schedule dates for system turnovers.
  •  Coordinate between the startup, construction and engineering teams to ensure startup attendance and participation in review meetings during the design process.
  •  Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure adequate provisions have been made for testing, flushing, cleaning and other pre-commissioning functions.
  •  Other duties as assigned.

    Field Responsibilities

  •  Assist in establishing the initial startup schedule and system turnover dates as well as any other assignment required to plan the specific project startup process.
  •  Observe strict adherence lockout/tagout procedures (LOTO).
  •  Review and sign Job Hazard Analysis, (JHA) for each assigned crew.
  •  Hold and/or attend daily safety meetings.
  •  Promote and insist on good housekeeping in the office and on the project site.
  •  Inspect systems before turnover to identify exceptions and deficiencies and review system turnover packages to ensure all test records are included and all exceptions are listed.
  •  Coordinate initial, functional testing and operation of assigned plant systems.
  •  Check and document final alignment data and vibration testing data for rotating equipment.
  •  Complete the initial charging of systems with chemicals, gases, resins, salt, fluids, etc.
  •  Conduct and direct cleaning, velocity flushing, and pre-commissioning of plant systems.
  •  Work closely with client site personnel and vendor service engineers engaged in pre-commissioning activities.
  •  Identify data sheets and test records to be completed during commissioning of equipment, calibration checkout and testing.
  •  Prepare and/or review assigned test procedures.
  •  Troubleshoot and isolate system problems, including submitting RFI's, correcting or suggesting resolutions and providing a written report of the results.
  •  Conduct system walk downs and generate punch lists; if necessary, recommend the system be turned back to construction.
  •  Supervise functioning for assigned tests adhering to contract requirements.
  •  Provide technical advice and guidance for system operation and maintenance during the startup period.
  •  Identify spare parts and consumables necessary for operation and maintenance of a system.
  •  Coordinate with discipline lead for operator, craft or vendor assistance for startup activities.
  •  Supervise construction craft labor as assigned.
  •  May supervise and direct an operational shift as the facility progresses through commissioning and testing.
  •  Before turnover acceptance, may also function as operational shift supervisor coordinating the tasks of field engineers, vendor service engineers, and the owner operating personnel.
  •  Review all time cards and requisitions charged against the startup budget associated with assigned area of responsibility. Submit all time cards and requisitions to discipline lead for approval.
  •  Assist in commissioning and testing individual components, systems, and the station as a complete integrated unit to meet all contractual obligations.
  •  Perform specific functions normally performed by the discipline lead when designated by the startup manager.

    Qualifications

  •  Bachelor's degree in a technical major or non-degree professional with commensurate experience of seven years' power plant or heavy industrial experience with progressive responsibilities
  •  Experience using computer management and scheduling tools
  •  Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and manuals with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  •  Working knowledge of rotating equipment operation, pump and fan curves
  •  Experience or working knowledge of hydro-lazing, lube oil flushing, hydraulic flushing, vibration analysis and witnessing rotating equipment alignment
  •  Demonstrated ability to perform chemical cleaning and steam blow activities
  •  Strong technical, supervisory and organizational skills
  •  Professional interpersonal skills to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization including owners and subcontractors
  •  Ability to work independently on complex field issues with an owner-service focus
  •  Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively, handling multiple deadlines simultaneously
  •  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
