HDR is in need of a Resident Engineer with a background in construction of New York City Waste Water Treatment Plants and Pumping Stations primarily with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP). NYCDEP construction experience is necessary. Super storm resiliency construction background is preferred but not necessary.
The candidate will work closely with the Construction Manager(s), the Program Management Team and various Plant staff to ensure the project goals are achieved, with a specific focus of managing the field inspection staff performing resident engineer inspections, scheduling, preparation and negotiations of construction change orders, preparation of weekly / monthly project reports, budgeting and contractor payment reviews.
The Resident Engineer will manage communications between the contractor(s), engineers, Owner and Plant staff on a daily basis. This position will directly report to the assigned HDR Project Manager. Position can be based in our Mahwah, Newark, Lawrenceville NJ offices or our NYC office.

A Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction and current PE is required. 15+ years progressive experience on multi-disciplinary water/wastewater related construction projects and extensive NYCDEP experience is required. 10+ of NYCDEP Resident Engineering experience is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be computer literate; experienced with Microsoft office, Microsoft Project and related PC software packages used on design and construction projects. Candidates who reside locally in the metro NY/NJ area are preferred but not necessary.
This position will be located at various locations within the 5 boroughs of New York City. Position is eligible for On-Call Contract(s) and or long term assignments. Travel is expected within the 5 boroughs.
