HDR|ICA is looking for a PE to take on our Area Operations Manager position in the Tampa, Florida area. This person will be responsible for all aspects of bridge maintenance within the assigned District. The selected candidate will report to the Project Manager as well as both in-house and external clients. A PE is required for this position. 
This is a professional position that requires your registration as an engineer in the State of Florida. Primary duties are centered on work order completion, routine/preventative maintenance, management of periodic repairs, and emergency response. Must have a knowledge of structures, construction practices and materials, principles of management and employee supervision.  This position is also responsible meeting performance and budgetary goals, Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 
  • Responsible for managing personnel, materials, and equipment. Works closely with Project Manager, Operations QC personnel, Crew Supervisor, and Crews to ensure that work is performed efficiently, of sufficient quality, and in a timely manner to prevent failed or late work orders.
  • Responsible for participation in FARC meetings (typically held twice per month) with the client (FDOT) to determine action to be taken on repair recommendations.
  • Responsible for direction and oversight of subcontractors performing repairs in D7. This may include contract administration and development.
  • Responsible for emergency response efforts and customer service requests throughout FDOT District 7.
  • Responsible for implementing and enforcing safety policies.
  • Responsible to be present at the Executive Review Board (ERB) meeting which reviews all aspects of the SAM project.
  • Responsible to perform post-event damage assessment and repairs.
  • The Area Operations Managers are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 
Supervisory Responsibilities - Manages a Crew Supervisor with a staff of 2-5 crews. Candidate is responsible for the overall direction and coordination of these personnel. Candidate will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations and the Department's policies & applicable laws.  Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, & directing work; addressing complaints & resolving problems.




Required Qualifications 

5+ years of related experience.
Candidate must be approved by FDOT.

Must have Florida PE
1+ years of management experience.
Advanced Maintenance of Traffic Certification and First Aid.
Valid drivers license and clean driving record required.
Must be able to communicate fluently in English.
Candidate must be able to respond to emergencies as they occur and must be willing to work long hours as required.

Preferred Qualifications

A college degree is preferred
Management experience in Asset Maintenance preferred
