Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a Senior ITS Engineer/Project Manager to join our South Florida Transportation Business Group This position may be based in either our Fort Lauderdale or Miami Lakes office. They will work as a senior engineer or project manager on a variety of ITS systems engineering and design needs for ITS and transportation projects. They will be responsible for developing, updating and reviewing ITS design documents, technical specifications and other project related documentation. This will include involvement with ITS architecture, systems engineering analysis, and plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) development for freeway, arterial and transit ITS systems including:


·         ITS master plans

·         Freeway and arterial traffic management systems

·         All electronic and open road tolling systems

·         Fiber optic and wireless communications systems

·         Power distribution and backup systems

·         Field equipment including ramp meter, CCTV camera, dynamic

          message sign, vehicle detector, highway advisory radio, roadside  

          weather information system, weigh-in-motion system, traffic signals,

          transit signal priority





Required Qualifications

BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline

15+ years of experience in traffic and ITS engineering required; this must include experience in electrical and communication network design

Must have a familiarity with industry standards (NTCIP, NEMA, IEEE, and NEC), as well as FDOT, FTE, and/or other transportation agencies' ITS standards and specifications

Must have a familiarity with SunGuide system and electronic tolling equipment such as loop systems, laser scanners, tag readers/antennae, treadles, enforcement cameras, and related roadside toll equipment

Florida PE license or the ability to obtain with 6 months is required

Microstation, MS Visio, and MS Office experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with design/build (D/B) projects is desirable

Local candidates are preferred
