Primary Responsibilities
HDR is looking for a Project Controls/Schedule Analyst to join our team in the Seattle, WA area. This individual working and reporting to the Project Controls Manager will play a key role on the delivery of several major transportation projects. In the role of Project Controls/Schedule Analyst, well count on you to:
  •    Support senior project management and team leadership with the administration of the GEC project team for all Project Controls cost, schedule and document management reporting, with a primary role of reporting for overall Program.
  •     Assist in the manage the contracting with more than 20 subconsultants on the GEC project
  •    Ability to assist in the set up and maintain project controls process and systems for a program/project.
  •    Assist in the management of project work activities during development of the Project Execution Plan, Project Management Plan, Baseline Definition, Change Management, and Interface and Risk management
    Specific Responsibilities include
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of Primavera (P6) Project Schedules for a variety of projects.
    • Maintains all schedule information in Primavera (P6) per the designated systems requirements.
    • Analyzes changes in design schedule sequencing, modified work plans and actual work performed against 4-week look-ahead schedules on a weekly basis
    • Works closely with the design team and management to understand, capture, and correct schedule related issues in accuracy and completeness
    • Assists in the development and maintenance of project-specific design, permitting, right-of-way, and other miscellaneous schedules
    • Assists in organizing large amounts of information into meaningful schedule visualizations
    • Will provide recommendations in the development of the project work breakdown structure (WBS) that interfaces and align with specific Program WBS Structures.
    • May perform some independent analysis of data stored in the project management and cost control systems.
    • Assists in the development of Project presentations using graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate cost status
    • Utilizes historical data, such as performance experience, for use in forecasting a realistic basis for future planning and forecasting
    • Supports program reporting including weekly report updates, monthly confidence reports, and quarterly risk and performance reports
    • Reviews monthly cost status and issues/trends with Project Management teams
    • Provides assistance with analyses on earned value and projected cash flow
    • Create new schedule graphics and reporting tools as projects move into different and/or future phases
    Required Knowledge & Qualifications
    • Strong computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, Power Point)
    • Expert knowledge in the use of schedule management software, specifically Primavera P6
    • Presents an ability to perform technical report writing.
    • Has knowledge of the basic principles and practices of civil engineering and construction.
    • Understanding of construction methods and scheduling theory
    • Critical Path Method Scheduling.
    • Has a basic understanding of the elements of Risk Assessments and the benefits in the strategic planning of Projects.
    • Familiarity of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
    • Techniques to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities.

    Required Skills
    • Utilizing personal computer software programs affecting assigned work and in compiling and preparing spreadsheets and reports.

    • Assists in the reviewing, interpreting, and analyzing engineering plans, drawings, specifications, contract documents, and engineering reports.
    • Able to interpret and apply applicable federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations.
    • Preparing and analyzing data and comprehensive reports.
    • Have an ability to understand alternative viewpoints and balance with conflicting information.
    • Has a working knowledge to interpret WSDOT policies, standards and procedures and related documents and apply it to the construction site.
    Communication Skills
    • Presents excellent English communication and written skills required.

    • Ability to provide verbal and written analysis of complex issues.
    • Is able to respectfully communicate, both orally and written, with groups and individuals representing Contractor, WSDOT, Local Agencies and Resource Agencies.
    Preferred / Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
    • 5 to 7+ years of experience in project controls work on engineering and/or construction projects, including planning, estimating, scheduling, cost control, schedule control, and project reporting. 
    • Ability to use MS Excel for estimating quantities and costs, and control activities such as progress and performance measurement.
    • Experience with Highway or Bridge construction in Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build or Alternative Delivery preferred.
    • Organizational skills to prioritize the work.
    • Able to work under pressure to meet timelines.
    • Ability to work with client and provide outstanding client service.
    • Experience and proficiency with Primavera version 6 (P6) or later.
    • Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification desirable.
    • Local candidates are preferred
