The primary duties of the Water and Wastewater Treatment Engineer will include planning, directing and monitoring all aspects of water and wastewater treatment projects. More specifically, the Engineer will be expected to independently perform treatment process engineering and lead and supervise teams of other engineers, environmental specialists, and CAD and GIS professionals to develop master plans, designs, specifications and estimates for water and wastewater treatment and conveyance/collection systems. As project manager for some projects the Engineer will be responsible for working with local leadership to establish project teams; developing proposals and fee estimates, establishing project schedules and responsibility assignments; developing project design criteria, schematics and methods; performing or overseeing process design, sizing and hydraulic calculations; preparing preliminary design and other engineering reports; determining and writing engineering specifications: overseeing the production of design drawings; developing and executing QA/QC plans for each project; and working directly with the owner to ensure that the project meets or exceeds the owner's expectation.

  •  BS Engineering required, MS preferred in Civil or Environmental with an emphasis on treatment engineering. 

  •  Alaska PE license required.

  •  Alaska experience and residency preferred. 

  •  8+ years of experience in the planning and design of treatment plant projects is preferred. 

  •  Proven process engineering, project leadership, project management (staffing, schedule and budget), and client interface skills. 

  •  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  •  Software knowledge required: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD. Software knowledge preferred: BioWin (or similar wastewater process software); 3-dimensional CAD design software such as AutoCAD Revit or AutoCAD Plant 3D.  

  •  Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. 

  •  Excellent team player with ability to function effectively in a variety of roles on integrated project teams.
