Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking a Water Resources Engineer with at approximately 5+ years of experience.  This position will be based out of HDR's office in Kansas City, MO.  This individual will support our on-going workload and assist in the development of new opportunities in water resources planning, engineering, and stormwater management.
 
This individual will be responsible for application of various design engineering and modeling techniques in the development of water resources projects for federal, state and local municipalities.  More specific duties include: hydrologic & hydraulic modeling, stormwater collection systems modeling, data collection, assimilation, and development of conceptual, preliminary, and final engineering design documents.  Typical projects range from flood risk management, river and streambank stabilization, stormwater systems, levees, dams, wetland and lake restoration, watershed management and ecosystem restoration.  This individual will be responsible for applying analysis and model results to produce design engineering reports, cost estimates, drawings, and specifications.
 

This individual will work within a team environment and be capable of delegating work tasks to junior staff and working with other disciplines.  This is a good opportunity for a self-motivated individual to work on a wide range of water resources projects while also developing and demonstrating business development skills within the Missouri-Kansas region.  Familiarity and established relationships with local water resources clients in the region is a plus.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

  •  Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

  •  5+ years of experience in water resources engineering projects

  •  PE

  •  Experience with HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GEO-RAS, storm drain system analysis

  • Ability to travel for work

  •  Excellent oral and written communication skills

  •  An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

     

    Preferred Qualifications

  •  MS degree preferred
