PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND DELIVERY:

As a project manager this position would include providing leadership, coordination, technical support and project management for the planning and design of industrial and energy related projects and programs.  Projects could include feasibility studies, owner's engineering support, and detailed engineering design.

 

This position also includes scheduling workload for project teams, providing mentoring to younger staff, and reviewing engineering deliverables. It requires an understanding of multidisciplinary team coordination, compilation of design and construction contract documents, design standards and practices, the ability to interact with multiple business lines (e.g. transportation, water/wastewater, permitting, outreach, right-of-way, mining, and oil and gas) across both local and regional HDR offices, facilitation of day-to-day business class or group activities in support of the Section Manager, and a track record of completing work on time and within budget.

 

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:

The position also requires business development, client management, scope and fee development, and the preparation of proposals and presentation delivery.  Possessing & maintaining knowledge of select power and industrial client needs, plans and current assessment of HDR is needed to anticipate, track and capture future project work. To contribute to the growth of the program, this position will establish, reinforce and expand both existing and new client relationships for HDR's Power, Waste and Industrial program in the Minnesota, Dakotas, and Wisconsin markets, while supporting regional Power, Waste and Industrial initiatives, as directed. Support of this position will come from collaboration with marketing staff to prioritize business development efforts towards opportunities that provide maximum return on investment. The preference is for the candidate to have a strong background in power, but would also like to explore candidates with contacts and knowledge in industrial and waste industries. Recent experience in leading and executing Power projects with utilities in the local/regional market is required. Identify, pre-market, prepare proposals and follow up on opportunities. Collaborate with marketing staff to prioritize business development efforts towards opportunities that provide maximum return on investment. Will be expected to work closely with marketing staff to achieve or exceed annual fee goal.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field. PE licensure. 10+ years engineering experience with Power projects preferred. Excellent writing and communication skills are beneficial. Ability to work independently and as part of a project team. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must. Relationships and direct experience with Utility or Industrial power generation facilities in the Upper Midwest is required.
