Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently seeking to hire a Senior I&C Engineer to serve in a project leadership role, supporting projects in HDR's Cleveland, office.  The primary role of this position is the planning, design, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.  This includes system evaluation, master planning, standards development, design and implementation.  This position requires an experienced engineer who will be responsible for coordinating with multidiscipline design teams, and managing workflow through all stages of design including schematic, design development, and construction document phases to complete deliverables on schedule and on budget.  This person will be responsible for creating biddable and technically accurate construction documents including construction drawings, writing/editing SCADA/I&C specifications, and selecting equipment including monitoring and control devices.  Responsibilities/Duties include:
  • Lead and participate in design review and planning meetings with clients.
  • Lead field activities to assess and document the current state of installed control systems.
  • Lead the development of Preliminary Engineering Reports and Studies focused on recommending and developing solutions for control system improvements.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record in responsible charge for the development of biddable and technically accurate SCADA/I&C construction documents.
  • Interface with Electrical and Process Engineers to fully coordinate design requirements for network, power, control, and instrumentation.
  • Select and specify instrumentation suitable for the process area and application.
  • Select and specify SCADA control and monitoring equipment.
  • Select and specify SCADA network equipment.

    This person will be involved in reviews of documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines, and will also be involved in coordination during construction phases including the review of shop drawings and field inspections on an as needed basis. This individual should be self motivated and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound I&C designs. *LI-KY1

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or Controls related field.
    Minimum 15 years applicable experience.
    PE required.
    Hands on experience designing I&C systems for both stand-alone and multidisciplinary projects, including schematics and loops.
    SCADA Master Planning knowledge preferred.
    Hands-on experience in the development of control narratives / loop descriptions.
    Network design experience in Industrial or Water/Wastewater .
    Knowledgeable of remote site telemetry communications.
    Knowledgeable of cyber security considerations in Industrial or Water/Wastewater.
    Knowledgeable of PLC hardware/software and SCADA/HMI software in Industrial or Water/Wastewater.
    PLC programming experience or HMI development experience a plus.
