Primary Responsibilities

Our engineering team approaches projects in a holistic manner, considering the interdependence of numerous systems to provide our clients with facilities that optimize operations, maximize cost savings, and reduce incidence of failure. Our engineers understand that each project requires knowledge of intricate construction processes to skillfully blend technical expertise with the experience of our multidisciplinary professional team. Our goal for each project is an engaged client, empowered stakeholders, and successful solutions.
We are currently searching for an Engineering Principal for our Phoenix office.  This dynamic individual needs to be engaged with clients and the engineering community both locally and regionally.  This person will represent HDR in the engineering community, participate in speaking engagements, author white papers and technical publications, participate in project interviews, contribute to proposal language, and assemble fees.  A person who can leverage his/her network to identify project opportunities and increase HDR's visibility in the region.
This individual needs to be a conceptual thinker who can engage and challenge our architectural designers during the early stages of projects to inform the conceptual design.  Leverage our integrated practice to add value to our project delivery process and lead engineering teams to deliver well-coordinated, high quality, designs to our clients. Have a passion for maximizing sustainability within the project constraints while exceeding performance requirements.



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering
  • 15+ years in the design of engineering systems for large complex buildings
  • Experience in building systems Mechanical Engineering
  • PE
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Accreditation in LEED, Green Globe, or ASHRAE High Performance Buildings
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Healthcare, Education and Science and Technology industries
  • Previous management experience
  • Local and national industry relationships
