Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking a Transit Construction Project Manager in the Seattle, WA area to lead construction management services on a number of urban rail transit projects. Projects may include elevated guideway, tunnels, depressed sections, at-grade sections, passenger stations, transit systems, building systems, and related civil works.

 

Primary duties include developing and implementing construction management plans for complex rail transit projects. This includes reviewing design and construction documents, administering construction contracts, and leading quality control, inspection, and observation services. These Resident Engineers will schedule and manage the work of construction engineering, inspection, and administrative staff, working in close coordination with agency staff. Other desired skills include schedule analysis, cost estimating, value engineering, constructability reviews, change order negotiations, document control, resolution of design concerns (with designers-of-record), and problem-solving.  The candidate will be required to meet with contractors regularly to plan and coordinate construction work, communicate with municipalities, utilities and other stakeholders, resolve construction-related issues, monitor labor law compliance and construction safety, and oversee contract administration, system testing, safety certification, and system start-up.

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction Management required
  • Construction Management certification (CCM) and/or Professional Engineer registration preferred, but not required
  • Transit and/or heavy construction project experience required
  • 15+ years of relevant, increasingly responsible experience required
  • A collaborative attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must

  •  PE

  •  Ability to interpret construction schedules
