Primary Responsibilities

HDR is in need of a Biosolids Engineer to be based out of our Calverton, MD office. This person will be instrumental in HDR's local and regional biosolids studies, design, and business development.  Specific activities include the following:
  • Participate in strategic and tactical planning activities related to biosolids projects.
  • Lead and participate in direct project pursuits including targeted client relationship development and premarketing, preparation of statements of qualifications, preparation of proposals, preparation of scopes of work and project budgets, and contract negotiations.
  • Participate in regional biosolids committee and policy making bodies, including WEA, WEF, Mid-Atlantic Biosolids Association. 
  • Participate in the WBG Practice Group on biosolids, a national committee of HDR staff focused on solids and key issues on treatment technologies and management.
  • Participate in the development of solids processing and biosolids management project experience qualifications and other marketing materials.
  • Disseminate information to HDR staff and clients on marketplace developments, evolving policy impacting wastewater clients and solids management, regulatory agency developments, emerging solids technologies and other biosolids industry developments that may present opportunities for clients.  
  • Participate in strategic and tactical planning activities with a focus on expanding solids processing and biosolids management.
  • Direct billable work on wastewater biosolids consulting assignments to municipal and industrial clients. *LI-KY1

Required Qualifications

BS in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering required.  MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred.  10+ years of experience with all aspects of biosolids processing (thickening/dewatering, digestion, advanced stabilization, thermal hydrolysis, heat drying, land application) required.
