HDR, Inc. is in search of a Senior GIS Project Manager to join our Northern California federal business group. The primary duties of a GIS Project Manager include planning, directing and monitoring all aspects of large multi-discipline projects or medium sized GIS and related technology projects with a high degree of technical complexity, involving a diverse project staff. Provide project management for federal projects. Provide marketing support for nation-wide GIS activities (10%). Establishes client relations and is involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings. Conducts GIS technical schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with Project Managers, appropriate technical professionals and other disciplines. Ensures project deliverables and supporting documentation are complete, understandable, conform to applicable and reasonable standards relative to their intended purpose, including client and HDR requirements. Is responsible to coordinate the staffing and workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule. Works with Business/Accounting Manager, Project Controller or Company Controller and the Department Manager or Managing Principal for project reviews. Responsible for implementing QA/QC procedures and completing reviews of GIS reports, data and applications for complex projects. Responsible for execution of training for personnel as established by strategic plans. Acts as mentor/supervisor for less experienced Task Leaders. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
BA/BS in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Computer Science or related field. Minimum of ten (10) years experience in GIS and application development technology project management and implementation for Federal Clients. Proficient in use of ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server and extensions and Microsoft Office. Expertise/deep understanding of Agile Application Development processes, and Application Development technology implementations, data analysis, including statistics or geostatistics. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to write reports that summarize spatial analyses and communicate findings with charts, tables and narrative. Demonstrated ability to serve as a GIS project leader including development of technical approach, budget, scheduling, and quality assurance. Ability to identify industry trends and determine where company capabilities can be marketed to existing and potential clients. Prior experience in personnel supervision preferred. Esri Certification preferred. GISP, PMP, PE or other professional certification a plus.
