Mid-Level Environmental Scientist. Responsibilities for this position will include working on a wide variety of environmental compliance and natural resource projects as they relate to water resources, transportation, and development projects. The primary duties of the Environmental Scientist 2 include collecting project related data which may include research, conducting surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, field investigations for wetlands, land use, etc. Assimilates and manages data. Prepares constraints mapping. Defines the level of environmental analysis required. Conducts environmental impact assessments. Performs complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods. Assists in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings. Assists public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance. This will include preparation, planning, and analysis/review of technical studies, permit applications, NEPA documents, and similar reports/documents. Assists public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance for wetland impacts, bridge construction, threatened/endangered species etc. Works independently on medium sized projects or assists more senior scientists on larger projects. Performs other related duties as needed.
This position will require supporting multidisciplinary teams in addition to supporting project managers with developing and monitoring project schedules and other tasks. Applicants must be detail-oriented, organized, effective communicators, and team players with a strong focus on quality and client service.

Required Qualifications

BS or BA degree in biology, environmental sciences, social sciences, planning or related field is required. Advanced degree is a plus.
5+ years experience desired.
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel)
ArcGIS experience is also plus
Experience assisting in preparation of CEs, EAs, EISs, Section 404 permit applications, and other similar environmental documents desired.
Knowledge of wetland delineation field investigation techniques and agency coordination requirements a plus.
Experience performing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments a plus.
Strong environmental writing and communication skills
Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving and research abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
