The Role

This position will provide leadership and direction to ensure group results for the Long-Term Care products within the Company. S/he will also develop and run complex actuarial models and provide in-depth analysis and recommendations for the MoneyGuard, Life LTC Rider, and Annuity LTC Riders. Additionally, s/he will also manage complex studies that underlie actuarial assumptions and provide assumptions and data to others.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and synthesizes information from multiple sources in varying degrees of completeness and clarity to develop and present actuarial recommendations to different levels of management and other stakeholders.
  • Leads actuarial projects and proactively identifies challenges and resolutions.
  • Monitors and analyzes developments in actuarial techniques, laws and regulations applicable to company operations, and competitive developments in the marketplace.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on actuarial models and assumption development and suggests new ways of managing risk for the LTC products within the Company.
  • Monitors market and industry trends for competitive positioning and emerging opportunities for Lincoln
  • Distribution support marketing and wholesalers
  • Collaboration with other teams core life, annuities, claims, underwriting and new business, legal, compliance

Education

  • Undergraduate Degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience; educational concentration in Applied Science or Mathematics is preferred.
  • FSA designation is required.

Experience

  • 5-7+ years of experience in Actuarial positions that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities of the position, At least 5 years of experience in Actuarial positions that directly aligns with the Long-Term Care specific responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrated Excel, SAS or SQL Skills .
  • Actuarial software skills:Experience with Prophet, MG-ALFA, or similar actuarial projection software systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate knowledgeably and credibly with senior management and internal constituents.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to think critically, analyze information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.
  • Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
