The Role

The Senior Communications Consultant will provide leadership, direction, and functional expertise for developing internal & external communications strategies and materials for Lincoln Financial Network (LFN), the retail wealth management arm of Lincoln Financial Group. The role will serve as the communications point person for all channels within LFN and its senior leadership. S/he will collaborate with senior leadership to develop a broad range of internal and external communications to aid the business unit(s) and LFN in achieving their business and communication goals

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Manage proactive PR strategy and execution to address the most-important broker-dealer issues, including regulatory and marketplace concerns, brand awareness/recruiting, business goals, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain consistent and ongoing advisor communications to engage and re-recruit existing advisors
  • Develop holistic messaging platform and tailored communications for senior executives to represent strong thought leadership and key firm positioning at advisor events, speaking engagements, conference calls, etc.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assess the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides direction on complex assignments, projects, and/or initiatives to build and enhance the capability of his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Directs the development of internal and external communiqués (memos, talking points, articles, scripts,  presentations, fact sheets, backgrounders, and other materials);
  • Leads the planning and execution of special events, internal and/or external, relevant to the program of work for his/her assigned area of responsibility.
  • Contributes to the development of effective crisis communications policies and procedures, consults on all incidents and events, and participates in managing through crises and crisis aftermath as needed.
  • Actively participates in all relevant agency and vendor relationships and monitors their results.
  • Establishes benchmark and performance metrics to track communication effectiveness progress while maintaining constant focus on the bottom-line impact.
  • Collaborates with marketing professionals and leaders throughout the company to ensure communication plans are aligned to integrated marketing plans.
  • Establishes connections/relationships with industry/communications associations.
  • Ensures communications areas are meeting all objectives pertaining to quality, compliance, regulations, productivity, customer service and project management.
  • Leads holistic communication strategies, including writing news releases, social media posts, speeches, talking points, etc.
  • Collaborates across the organization to facilitate achievement of organizational goals and objectives, always remaining aligned with Lincoln Financials integrated communications plans and overall business and strategic plans.
  • Collaborates with financial advisors to holistically develop and deliver communications and/or communication plans aligned with messages across the company to help build brand awareness and recruit to the broker-dealer through bylined articles and key placements.

  • Maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends in the industry, assess the impact, and collaborate with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
  • Establishes benchmark and performance metrics to track communication effectiveness progress, while maintaining constant focus on the bottom-line impact.
  • Contributes to the development of effective crisis communications policies and procedures, in strong partnership with Corporate Communications; consults and manages through all incidents/events as applicable.
  • Develops messaging and communications content, such as: emails, speeches, presentations, videos, multi-media, scripts, talking points, key messages & other written communications.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.

 Education & Experience

  • 5 - 7+ Years Corporate communications, internal communications and/or public relations experience
  • 4 Year/Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelors)
