The Role


As the Plan Document Consultant, you will perform and deliver on routine assignments/projects while simultaneously leveraging and applying knowledge of assigned area(s) of responsibility. You will focus on the more complex installation and maintenance of plan document for certain retirement plans. You will also complete the entire plan-level process to ensure that plan design meets regulatory compliance standards.

Technical Agility

  • Performs more complex installation plan processes and ongoing plan maintenance, ensuring compliance with guidelines set by ERISA, IRS, and DOL
  • Reviews more complex standard or specialized documents to implement new and takeover retirement plans, and ensures compliance
  • Initiates or responds to client requests for plan documents amendment/restatements
  • Serves as a technical resource for customers, distribution channels, LFG associates, and other business partners for design, installation, compliance & problem resolution
  • Monitors plan activity, through a more complex review process, for qualification status and potential risks and/or financial liability to the client and/or Lincoln


Relationship Management

  • Fosters relationships that ensure customer satisfaction and retention of plan assets
  • Handles pre and post-sale consultation with clients and producers


Action Oriented

  • Follows team process/procedures
  • Evaluates existing procedures as needed to increase customer satisfaction and team effectiveness
  • Produces Employer-Employee Plan implementation communications, as well as producer sales support communications
  • Meets established turnaround times to avoid financial penalties





  • 4 Year/Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
  • ASPPA designations QKA, QPA, TGPC and/or CPC preferred



  • 3 - 5+ Years’ Experience in retirement plan documents and/or plan installation and documentation that directly aligns to the responsibilities for this role
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Apply concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions
  • Works with mathematical concepts such as averages and/or variances
  •  Ability to analyze information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution
  • Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

  • Demonstrated knowledge of LFG retirement and annuity products and procedures
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to qualified plans and types and plan designs (IRS, DOL, TEFRA, EGTRRA etc
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Commitment toward continuous learning as can be demonstrated by completing on-going training courses, studying various training approaches and attending training related seminars
