The Role

This role will provide leadership and direction to a team of Claims professionals to assess, analyze, and provide recommendations for claims handling opportunities. S/he will provide oversight and deploy a team of risk resources to drive intended outcomes. S/he will establish and direct implementation of team priorities, performance goals, and objectives to ensure results related to claims risk, service and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes data from Risk reports, QA reports, Service reports, etc. to identify trends and areas for improved claim outcomes.
  • Collaborates with Practices, Training, and other resources to quantify opportunities to refine, adjust, or change established processes and procedures to ensure the intended outcomes will result from execution of the processes.
  • Deploys claims risk resources to analyze and recommend actions to ensure appropriate claims handling
  • Deploys resources to assist Operational leaders in achieving intended financial, Service and risk outcome, offering adjunct services to the established claims teams.
  • Directs team to evaluate claims handling, assessing compliance with established processes, practices, and sound decision making.
  • Directs the monitoring of resolutions / remediation of identified issues, providing qualitative and quantitative feedback on progress.
  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Establishes and directs the activities of a team of Claims Risk consultants to identify opportunities to improve claims handling and outcomes for specific claims or blocks of claims.
  • Monitors the effective application of new or refined procedures, offering feedback on the efficacy of the procedures intent, documentation, and ability to execute.
  • Partners with Claims Operational leaders and Claims Best Practices area to diagnose problems, and provides subject matter expertise and recommends remediation plans which can be executed by Operational leaders.
  • Partners with Finance, Claims Risk Management, Reporting, etc. to identify individual or blocks of claims that require in-depth review and analysis to determine whether claims handling should be modified to ensure appropriate outcomes.
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.

Education & Experience

  • 7+ Years of experience in claims handling, reporting, analysis, including 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience.(Required)
  • Other: Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience in insurance claims. (Minimum Required)
