The Role

This position will provide subject matter expertise and direction on complex projects/initiatives for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility. S/he will be responsible for implementing DevOps practices and principles on mainframe applications and systems. S/he will be responsible for building and extending evolving continuous integration and delivery technology platforms. S/he will create the patterns and framework(s) needed for application teams to leverage for automating builds, deployments and environment build outs as pertaining to mainframe systems. S/he will set standards on integrating Mainframe tools with other DevOps tools chosen in distributed as necessary and provide mentorship to mainframe application teams looking to implement DevOps.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a subject matter expert and/or provides direction on the design and development of automation builds, deployments, and environment build outs.
  • Creates scalable enterprise pipeline that can be reused across application teams that enables Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD).
  • Develops and leverages tools in support of infrastructure development (Infrastructure as Code), software development and delivery (CI/CD) and automation to improve IT services.
  • Serves as lead technical resource to ensure completion of development tasks.
  • Acts as an advocate for continuous improvement and delivery to improve business processes.
  • Applies knowledge of technology and operational best practices to drive the design, development and implementation of operational standards and capabilities.
  • Proactively identifies problems and develops complex solutions.
  • Acts as product owner for Mainframes DevOps stack.
  • Communicates effectively with internal stakeholders and management.
  • Demonstrates best practices in information architecture, design, performance and scalability, quality assurance, and strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides direction on complex assignments, projects, and/or initiatives to build and enhance the capability of his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Education

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar field. (Minimum Required)

Experience

  • 5 to 7+ Years experience in application development or DevOps that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position. (Required)
  • 3+ Years experience with Mainframe tools such as Endevor / ISPW, Topaz, Autosys, Strobe, Xpediter etc.
  • 3+ Years experience in distributed DevOps tools such as GIT/GITLAB, XLD, XLR, Sonarqube, Fortify etc.
  • 3+ Years experience with Open source testing tools; 3+ years experience with Cloud providers. (Required) #LI-KM1
