The Role


This BI Cognos/ SAP Reporting position will consult/analyze and deliver on more complex assignments/projects for HR operations reporting. The primary focus of this role is the analysis, design, development, and continuous improvement of report logic and generation. This role manages decision support output to help guide the organizations vision of improved data quality as well as enterprise data needs. This role is also responsible for supporting data needs for implementation of initiatives to integrate HR and relevant business data for managers and HR leadership.



  • Clearly communicate data concepts to a variety of audiences, including executives, utilizing excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Converts abstract data requests into concrete deliverables in COGNOS, SuccessFactors, and SAP..
  • Designs & implements reporting, business processes, procedures, & distribution that significantly reduce workloads & improve reporting to meet business needs & end-user requirements while implementing sustainable reporting solutions to improve scalability.
  • Determines and understands the root cause of abnormal data events and behaviors within installed systems and communicates effective solutions/recommendations to responsible internal personnel or software vendors.
  • Develops query structures and/or native SQL statements in compliance with company policy and data governance resulting in reusable stored procedures within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Documents processes and develops/delivers training for end users on BI tools/reports/alerts.
  • Ensures that all business requirements are thoroughly tested with a high degree of quality.
  • Fosters a positive relationship with end-consumers, internal requestors, outside vendors and comply with company data standards and policies.
  • Leads the full operational report development lifecycle: prioritization, solution planning, proof of concept/prototype design, development, data mining, testing, migration & production support utilizing reporting applications
  • Produces validated findings to solve data inconsistencies that are not clearly defined.
  • Researches, compiles, and interprets more complex analysis to provide insights/recommendations to customers.
  • Responsible for developing BI report models by defining requirements, identifying and modeling data sources and completion of Business Requirement Documents (BRD) for assigned projects.
  • Supports the development & implementation of HR information integration & business intelligence solutions as applicable for assigned projects.
  • Utilizes various technical BI report studio tools, to retrieve, construct and deliver data exports to internal departments, outside government agencies and/or software vendors.


Education & Experience

  • 3 - 5+ Years business intelligence/analytics experience that directly aligns with the responsibilities of this position(Required)
  • 1 - 3+ Years Database experience and proficiency in SQL concepts, metadata principles and various data warehouse solutions, HR Systems including legacy mainframe systems, business intelligence reporting, metrics & development of reports.(Required)
  • 4 Year/Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelors) (Minimum Required)
  • Ability to represent information visually (e.g. bars, charts and visualization techniques).
  • Ability to translate information requirements into reporting requirements (data attributes, report layout, summary / detail view, formula etc.).
  • Comprehends data concepts, including underlying database storage structures.
  • Demonstrated expertise/facility with HR (or other Enterprise Systems) information systems, business intelligence reporting strategies (SAP/SuccessFactors, IBM Cognos), and business/reporting tools and packages.
  • Knowledge of testing techniques and tools for reporting.  Minimal travel.  #LI-AY1
