The Role

An opportunity to join the Hedging Operations and Performance Reporting (HOPE) within Market Risk Management (MRM) that is responsible for the implementation, operations, performance, and analysis within the annuity hedge program. The Analyst will be involved in implementing models that combine capital market, actuarial and quantitate finance disciplines to produce data and analytics that support hedging, pricing and valuation for the annuity business. The role will connect the work of this team to other business areas to help various firm wide initiatives including launching new products, understanding/incorporating regulatory changes and developing new hedging strategies. The Analyst is expected to perform and deliver on assignments to mitigate market risk by identifying and reporting on key risks for both variable and indexed annuities.


Technical Knowledge

  • Develops, enhances and carries out operational hedging processes for variable and indexes annuities.
  • Develops and enhances hedge performance reporting that feeds hedging strategy and enables risk mitigation improvements.
  • Measures and understands P/L attribution and performance of new and existing hedge strategies.
  • Provides requirements and contributes to the workflow design for all production processes.
  • Designs test cases and performs validations and UAT for production systems.
  • Develops and implements improvements to MRMs risk models, workflows, and systems.
  • Supports implementation process of existing and new VA/IA product designs.
  • Performs ad hoc analyses.

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal clients and or management, finds common ground and can gain collaboration among management, colleagues and peers; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.



  • Undergraduate degree with educational concentration in Statistics, Mathematics, Hard Science/engineering or Actuarial Science is required.
  • Masters level or Advanced degree preferred but not required.


  • 3-5years of increasing experience in market risk management, annuity hedging or related field.
  • Strong analytical and organization skills, ability to communicate to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of financial mathematics and modeling.
  • Working knowledge of capital markets instruments, derivatives models and valuation techniques.
  • Experience in system development for annuity hedge program (designing workflows, writing/reading financial code, designing test cases, performing validations) a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, VBA).
  • Working knowledge in SQL and Python/R/MATLAB.
  • Ability to read C++/C.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to changing priorities as needed.
